“Should I have contracts, proposals, and every system set up before I take my first client?”

“Should I have contracts, proposals, and every system set up before I take my first client?”

Short answer: no.

I jumped in with zero contracts, barely-there proposals, and a whole lotta Google Docs. And guess what? Every “perfect” template I made got ripped apart by client feedback anyway. 17 revisions later → totally different document.

Here’s the deal: anything you build before you have experience will change. The real learning happens inside the client work.

So yes, best practice = contracts. But best growth? Jump in, stay scrappy, adjust fast. That’s how you actually figure out what works (for you AND your clients).

👉 Stop waiting for perfect paperwork. Start. Learn. Then fix it.
