The New York Times just called a guy who built a $1.8 billion company with AI a "visionary." Sam Altman said he wanted to meet him. The internet celebrated him as the future of business.

What they didn't mention: he built it with 800+ fake doctor profiles on Facebook, AI-generated before-and-after photos of patients who don't exist, and drugs the FDA had already warned him about — six weeks before that article came out.

It's the exact same 100-year-old propaganda trick Edward Bernays used when he got real doctors to endorse cigarettes and bacon. Same technique. Same manipulation. Same playbook. Except now the doctors aren't even real.
