There’s a world of difference between being agreeable and being professional.

Old me: “Sure! Happy to!”
Me now: “Happy to help. Where should I send the quote?”

There’s a world of difference between being agreeable and being professional.

I used to think saying “yes” made me easy to work with.
It actually made me easy to take advantage of.

Then I realized the people who respect your boundaries are the ones who belong in your business long-term.

Here’s the difference between good, better, and best when a client asks to “add one more thing”:

✅ Good: “Sure, but that’ll take extra time.”
✅ Better: “Absolutely! I’ll send over an updated quote so we can lock it in.”
✅ Best: “Happy to help with this new project. Can you confirm if it replaces anything from our current scope or should I send a separate estimate?”

Here’s your script if you struggle to say it out loud:

“Hey [Client Name], this new piece sounds great! Since it’s outside our original agreement, I’ll create a quick add-on quote to keep everything clear for both of us.”

Your boundaries don’t push people away.

They filter in the ones who see your value.

Save this if you’re still learning to charge for the extra mile instead of giving it all away.
