The apology you’re waiting for might never come.
The apology you’re waiting for might never come.
Not because you didn’t deserve it.
Because some people would have to admit who they were to you… and they’d rather rewrite history than tell the truth.
And that part used to make me feel powerless.
Like I couldn’t close the chapter until they handed me the proper ending.
But here’s what I learned
closure isn’t something they give you.
It’s something you decide.
It’s the moment you stop using your peace as collateral.
It’s the moment you stop keeping a door cracked for someone who keeps proving they won’t walk through it with care.
It’s the moment you stop replaying the same memory hoping it will suddenly end differently.
So yes, you can still want accountability.
You can still want the apology.
That’s human.
But you don’t have to keep waiting in the hallway of someone else’s growth.
You’re allowed to turn around, go home to yourself, and close the door.
And if you need words for it, borrow mine
“I release you from the job of making this right.
I’m making me okay now.”
