One of my favorite ways to come up with fresh content ideas for my business has nothing to do with studying my own industry.

In fact, that is usually the worst place to look when you want original content angles.

Here’s why: when you only research people in your niche, it gets a whole lot harder to create something that feels fresh, natural, and true to your voice. It can start to feel like you are accidentally copying content, rewording the same ideas, or forcing trends that do not actually fit your brand.

Instead, I love looking at high performing content in completely different industries.

That might be meal prep, beauty routines, fitness, parenting, horses, home organization, or anything else with strong engagement and clear messaging. When you study content outside your niche, you can spot interesting hooks, formats, frameworks, and storytelling styles without feeling boxed in by what everyone in your industry is already doing.

It gives you a new perspective.

It is a lot like flipping through a magazine and noticing the ads, headlines, and layouts. You are not copying them. You are using them as creative inspiration and translating the structure into your own industry, your own topics, and your own voice.

This is one of the easiest ways to generate better content ideas, create more original marketing, and avoid sounding like everyone else online.
